Afternoon Tea
Afternoon Tea Served Monday to Saturday from 2pm until 5pm.
Afternoon tea has seen a resurgence in popularity over the past few years – an idea that the Adair Arms Hotels restaurant has expanded upon and given a modern twist for only £20pp
According to hist(ea)orians, cuppa consumption increased dramatically during the early nineteenth with fashionable society sipping tea and nibbling sandwiches in the middle of the afternoon.
However, you don’t have to be of high society to enjoy afternoon tea these days and the Adair Arms Hotel has seen birthday parties, baby showers and pre-wedding celebrations participating in the tradition.
The hotel is keen to get back into the tradition of treating oneself with an affordable luxury or a welcome break from a hectic days shopping in town.
Its Afternoon Tea is composed of sandwiches (usually cut delicately into ‘fingers’), scones with jam, sweet pastries and cakes.
Interestingly, scones were not a common feature of early Afternoon Tea and were only introduced in the twentieth century.
The hotel also offer a gluten free afternoon tea, green tea alternatives or adding a sneaky glass of sparkling. Relax into the sumptuous sofas in the extensive lobby and enjoy your afternoon.
